Hi Natty!  How are you today, Honey?  I hope you are having a wonderful time over there, and keeping safe and healthy.  Of course I long to be with you.  I love you with all of my heart.  I'm doing OK over here.  It's been dry the past couple of days, so I took the opportunity to do some burning.  It was easier than I expected.  Nothing special on the menu today, just rice and rice.  I need to go out and buy some pasta and fish cake for my ramen, but I'm too damned lazy to go anywhere.  Maybe tomorrow.

I think I've finally wrapped up the 5th song for Shadowplay's next album, "Rise of the Horizon Creature" aka "Search for the Beast".  I'm not perfectly happy with it, I should have produced this song one step up.  But it's too late to go all the way back and start again.  Maybe.  I'll have to see if it drives me mad or not.  Argh!  I was certain I had the right key!  It's so infuriating!  Mary has to do vocals on 5 more songs then the album will be complete.  I'm not going to talk about the next 5 songs here, I'm just going to finish the album then release it.  Of course, I will send the first copies to my Sweetie and a couple of old friends inshaAllah.  Then I'll publish the album here on this blog and then on YouTube.  For the pleasure of Allah, it will be free music.  So you folks can download, copy and distribute it as you please.

No touring

 

Hi there, beautiful Natty!  How are you today, my precious love?  I hope you are feeling great and keeping safe and all.  I love you!  I seem to have a little more energy than yesterday.  I really enjoyed that fried rice I made yesterday, so I cooked up another wokful for lunch today.  I gave some to the cats- there's nothing in there that could hurt their tummies, except maybe the garlic, and there's very little of that.  They seemed tp like it.  They ate up every grain of it, including the cucumbers, carrots and cabbage.  Light and refreshing!

Mary Unknown7 will not be touring, folks.  Ever.  Neither will Shadowplay.  She said that she's emotionally fried, and so am I.  I'm emotionally fried from over 50 years of bullshit, not that my bullshit is more special than anybody else's bullshit, weak be the human race.  I want to give my heart a break and not subject it to the randomness of touring.  Maybe I will live long enough to be married inshaAllah.  And when I do, I will make sure we are together all the time.  Plus, it would be easier for me to help protect Mary.  So there it is.  No touring.  Ever.

Fried rice

 

Hi Natty!  How are you today, Honey?  I hope you are feeling fine and having a wonderful time.  Oh, I feel a bit tired right now, it's been a busy day for me.  But now I look back on the day, I spent a lot of time feeding myself.  The days seem like they're getting shorter.

There are a lot of bad versions of fried rice out there.  My take is that fried rice should be light and refreshing.  The guy in the video above seems to have a good fried rice.  How bad could it be since it's only eggs and rice?  I only use one egg, though.  I have tried to cook the egg first in fried rice, but it turned out too heavy.  Thus I seldom stray beyond the routine.  But today, all I had to put in it was the stuff in the cooler.  My Mom gave me a couple of salted "ikan sepat" (gourami) which had been sitting in the freezer for a couple of weeks.  The gravy dish video above doesn't appeal to me, so I thought I would use it in my fried rice.  I had ginger oil, so I cooked the fish in that until the fins were crispy.  Then I took the fish out and fried up the garlic, then carrots, cabbage and cucumber, then threw the rice on top of all that.  I used soy sauce to add color only, the real flavor is a small spoon of anchovy bouillon.  I removed the large bone from the fish, then cut the fish onto strips with a scissors then into small cubes, and added that into the mix.  The egg came last, I cleared a small hole in the mix then put a touch of oil in there to cook the egg.  When the egg was cooked, I mixed it up one last time and voila!  Light and refreshing.  Want some fried rice, Honey?

Natty, you're so beautiful!  You're looking mighty sharp and confident, Honey.  I guess you are all business right now, huh?  People need you.  I need you too.  So please don't forget about me.  Yes Honey, I cut the grass this evening.  By the side of the road, where the politicians put their posters and flags.  They left a few bamboo stakes behind, but it wasn't a big deal.  I was able to pull them out easily.  I had just enough time to cook and eat my dinner.  It was spaghetti in ginger oil with beef and eggplant.  It was quite successful, you must try it sometime.  Olive oil would have been better, but I can't afford that.  So I used palm oil instead.

I had ramen for lunch.  I love ramen!  Broth is key for good ramen, especially in my zone where all that's available for the noodles are ramen bricks.  Now you don't have to use pig to make the broth, folks.  Just use beef, chicken or lamb instead.  As you can see in the photo, I used a beef bone.  The nail, specifically.  This was the 6th time I used that bone for broth, as you can see it's falling apart, and the gelatin is oozing out.  That's the best part!  In the video, you can see that they put a lot of vegetables along with the meat and bones.  What do they do with all those veggies?  They usually throw that stuff away.  Sometimes they use dried fish for the broth, and they throw that away too, which I think is a waste.  I would have fried up the fish to a crisp then used it as a topping.  Sometimes they use big heavy sheets of seaweed, and I bet they throw that away too.  They don't even reuse it.  What a crime!  Today I blended all that stuff you see in the bowl together, and used it as broth.  It was successful.  You want some ramen, Natty?
