Legumes

 

Hi Natty!  Oh Natty, you're so beautiful.  I love you so much.  I wish we were together.  You are probably in that endorsement stage in life, and business is booming.  So get it while you can, my dear heart.  Please keep safe and healthy.

If you folks can get past the pig, then you can see how the French do their street food.  It doesn't look like street food, more like an open air takeout restaurant.  I'm sure the French have stalls out there, I'll look into it.  As for the food, it looks more British than French.  What with the bangers and potatoes and beans.  Beans always seem to come in a sauce, like chili or baked beans.  Lentils taste so much better when they're crunchy though.  So I tried an experiment for dinner: I deep fried the soaked lentils until they got crunchy, then drained the oil.  Fried up the steak then added the crunchy lentils in.  I spiced and salted it up, then garnished it with fried onions and sesame seeds.  That's the concoction below, steak and crunchy lentils.  It was a success.  Alhamdulillah.  There is however, a perception problem.  It doesn't need rice or bread, the legumes carry the role and weight of grain.  So even though it was a filling dinner, it had the umami of a snack.  Does that make sense?  Dammit, I need to buy more lentils.
