Sambal petai cheeseburger

 

Hi Natty!  How are you today?  How is your exciting life?  Please stay safe, and guard your health.  I want you to know that I love you with all of my heart.  I had to go downtown in the morning, and mingle with the crowd at the bank.  What to do, I had to make a deposit to pay bills.  They were quite organized there though, and practiced social distancing.  It's the stuffy, crowded areas we need to avoid.

I was feeling adventurous for dinner.  I still have a lot of bread so I'm still in cheeseburger mode, but... I discovered a long time ago that "sambal belacan" (hot sauce made from chillies and "belacan"(fermented shrimp paste)) and melted cheese was a perfect match.  But I happened to have hot sauce with "petai" (bitter beans) in my cooler.  I was dying to try this experiment.  It's not for the faint hearted though, "petai" is kind of stinky going in and going out, but it really cranks up the flavor of rice dishes in particular.  I loved it on my cheeseburger, I wanted to put more.  No I don't think you would like this, Natty.
