The responsibility of inspiration.

The responsibility of inspiration.

Music, art and writing all fall under the category of inspiration. Since one has only so much time, an artist/writer generally has to channel his/her inspiration into business.

What is the responsibility of the one who has inspiration? First, let's examine where all that creativity came from. The obvious answer is that God granted that inspiration.

Humans tend to think, "I thought of it first, the idea is mine!" while forgetting how they got that idea in the first place. Was it a dream? Was it a sudden flash while you were digesting that burrito? Was it an event that you observed while you were waiting for the bus? Was it someone else's idea?

Often we see people on cd covers showing off their bodies and their possessions. Their rationale is that their "ideas" need to be digested by the consumer in a form that the consumer can understand. Then we hear their idea, and it involves the advocation of lust, greed and murder, and we are led to believe that these ideas are elevated. "Business" supercedes God.

In a nutshell, most people want results before faith. These people would add that the suffering of the world is God's fault. But God didn't pull that trigger. God didn't sign that declaration of war. God didn't walk past that beggar without giving even a lousy dollar. People did.

God is the Compassionate One. God enjoins what is good. To demand evidence of this in an argument is to rationalize arrogance, and just plain lazy. Just look around.

Inspiration must be used to promote what is good, to make things better, not worse. Sure, people don't change and life isn't supposed to be easy but don't just assume futility, for that is uninspiring. Don't just give in to the temporary and say, "I might as well serve myself first before I die." To speak in finite terms, perhaps your life may inspire another to promote what is good.

Children! Use your inspiration to serve God, because it will be taken away someday. You don't have to preach. Create compassion and justice, and with the help of God, compassion and justice will be created.
