Adventures in ramen

 

Hi Natty!  How are you feeling today, my beautiful Honey?  Are you being hounded by the fashion big wigs?  I hope you are having a splendid time over there, and having tons of fun.  Please keep safe and healthy.  I'm doing OK, the weather is still hot.  There was some rain in the middle of the night last night, which made for a cooler morning.  Good for sleeping in.
What do you think of Gordon's ramen?  He doesn't seem like a ramen kind of guy.  Vegetarian, he said?  I think his ramen is too busy.  We're all used to ramen being noodles, seasoning packet and water.  Gordon's ramen is the extreme opposite.  I might want to take a sip of the broth to find out how it tastes, but I wouldn't want to eat the whole thing.  The ramen I had for lunch was a bit on the busy side, too.  It's because of the okra: it was old (that's why it was on sale), so I had to slice it up into many thin slices as to be more palatable.  On the plus side, the slime inside the vegetable made a thicker broth.  The broth is salt fish and fermented miso based.  That's my home made fermented miso!  Alhamdulillah!  It's pure magic!  I find that salt fish makes the best ramen broth, because there's no need to use the seasoning packet.  There's usually some scum to clean up, but not today.  Also there's carrots, onion, garlic, chopped seaweed, the noodle brick and soft boiled egg at the bottom sitting on some soy sauce, and the usual glob of hot sauce on the fried onions.  I didn't eat any of the noodles in soup at yesterday's banquet.  I prefer my own cooking.  Knowledge from Allah is always the best.
