Qur'an 20080206

In the name of Allah,Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

63. Men ask thee concerning the Hour: say, "The knowledge thereof is with Allah, and what will make thee understand? Perchance the Hour is nigh!"

64. Verily Allah has cursed the unbelievers and prepared for them a blazing fire

65. to dwell therein forever: no protector will they find, nor helper.

66. The Day that their faces will be turned upside down in the Fire, they will say: "Woe to us! Would that we had obeyed Allah, and obeyed the Messenger!"

67. And they will say: "Our Lord! We obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us as to the path."

68. "Our Lord! Give them double penalty, and curse them with a very great curse!"

The knowledge thereof is with Allah, and what will make thee understand? Perchance the Hour is nigh!

Today, I accidently put my clock in the washing machine and killed it.

Anyway, skeptics of Judgement Day want to know exactly when it is. Why? Will they be any less skeptical? Most likely it would make no difference to them. Such information is privy to the Almighty Allah only. The prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) didn't know it. The believers don't know it. I don't know it. The concept is that it could happen anytime. Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean that it won't happen, and happen anytime.

Oblivion is the modus operandi of unbelievers. Which is a shame, because the punishment is really intense. Their skepticism commanded them not to prepare, not even as an option. What these people see is other people, telling them what to do and what to believe, which is great if it is for the better, but it isn't. There can be no compensating for reaction when it comes to belief in God: the probation is now, so prepare now. But I guess regret is more important than preparation for most people.

Instead most people follow bosses and politicians, for whatever reason. Often we see within an establishment people blaming each other when something goes wrong. This will be true again on Judgement Day, when unbelievers start blaming their bosses and politicians in the presence of God. And treacherous too, as we often see, when they demand more severe penalties for those they blame. E Pluribus Unum.
