You don't need amp modelers, but this Gearbox thing is all I have. So you may wonder, "Why isn't he using the amp modeler?" It's because the contacts are all crackling. So I decided to take the thing apart and try to clean it, but there wasn't anything to clean from that. What was left were all the holes for the phone plugs. I said a prayer then dunked some cotton buds into rubbing alcohol, trimming off cotton so it would fit in the 1/8 inch hole. And behold, the tip contact had black gunk on it. Which makes sense, because all those years of pushing in a phone plug would eventually stuff dirt in there. Right at the tip.
