Monday

 

Hi Natty!  How are you?  You are probably getting back into the swing of things after your long holiday.  I don't take holidays, but as long as I don't have to do a lot of labor then that's fine with me.  Today is Monday over here.  I cleaned the fridge, bathroom and toilet in the morning, then I had takeout rice lunch.  I did some burning in the evening, then bought dinner at the night market.  I also got some raw fish sausage, and boy does that stuff smell.  It smells like heaven to cats though, and Adolf Kitler was bugging me for snacks.  I had to smack him with the pooper scooper so he would leave my feet alone so I could clean the litter box.

I went to Harper's last night, and found gorgeous pink heels by Versace.  Nice, huh?  Anyway the credits for Mary's "golden referee" look are:

Most of the clothing are system layers, which are known now as BOM or Bakes On Mesh.  This means like the clothes are like body paint.  People generally think that mesh clothes are higher in quality, but BOM can be high quality too.  With both, it depends on how much effort and love the creators put into the apparel.  The outfit is actually a dress.  Back in the day, designers put a primitive panel between the legs to complete the mini skirt.  I didn't add that part because it looked awful, so in effect Mary's avatar is wearing short shorts.

Angel hair

 

Hi Natty!  Did you enjoy your Christmas?  Did you enjoy pointing that sausage dog's pee pee at the world?  I'm sure you did.  Oh, you didn't take any snapshots of dinner!  Nothing special on the menu here today.  I had takeout rice for lunch.  My brother gave me some pasta and sauce, so I cooked that up for dinner.  The local supermarket is making its own pasta sauce.  It's not bad, but I like my own sauces better.  The locals here are really getting into pasta, I'm seeing it on store shelves everywhere.  I don't think they know how to handle pasta though, because I don't see any hawkers selling it.  The pasta I got is angel hair.  I don't like angel hair, I prefer plain old spaghetti.  I guess I'm just Joe Average.  When I was at the pizza joint, the patrons would quaff down copious amounts of angel hair pasta, usually with pesto.  Hm, I think I'll make pesto someday.  Hey Gordon, only an amateur adds oil and salt to the pasta water!

I went over to Elle last night, but I didn't see anything good.  I don't spend a lot of time trawling the fashion magazines.  If nothing caught my eye in 5 minutes, I give up and go somewhere else the next day.  I get bored easily, plus I have other stuff to do.  No, I don't only like mini skirts and dresses for Mary's avatar!  I actually have design credits today, I'll try to be consistent in putting the credits up.  InshaAllah.

Oh, I forgot Mary's shoes today!  That's the trouble with gowns, I can't see the feet because of the long skirt.  But I did see some nice boots over at Vogue!  I think they would look great with any gown...

Don't worry folks, I put some shoes on her before today's show.  Here they are, just to show you:

Cute, huh?  Those are Linda pumps by PurePoison.  Oh, I forgot who the gown is from.  I guess I should remember these things, but alas I am not being motivated by payment.  It is a beautiful gown, though.

That chest piece is what you would call a "primitive", meaning that you would build it the same way as you would build a house in Second Life.  I suppose you could also import it from a 3D draw program.  The sheer parts of the skirt are called "flexi panels".  I think you build them like primitives, but they bend according to motion and gravity. Flexi doesn't behave like real cloth, though.  Realistic cloth physics do exist in games, for example the Street Fighter game below, but not yet in Second Life.  Not because it's not possible, but because people are too lazy to program it.  I guess like me, they need to be motivated with payment.

Of course, making digital clothes mostly benefits avatars and such.  It's a great thing that Second Life has a near bottomless pit of apparel to choose from.  I suppose it would be both inconvenient and slow to give up the simple sketch on a piece of paper, but don't forget that the Internet is a digital medium.  So the next top model is logically an avatar, right?  So scan that sketch into a wireframe, and send some digital clothes to me so I can have Mary's avatar wear them.  If they're good enough.

Ha!  I was right about the plum powder's making a sauce.  I made a sauce yesterday for my fried noodles, and it was a great success.  Very tasty, and easy on the stomach too.  If you were to browse the Chinese grocery store you might come across Hoisin sauce, which is a plum sauce.  You may recognize the flavor on your rice paper wraps, I think they always use Hoisin sauce for that stuff.  But the plum sauce I made yesterday is to match the flavor of India style fried noodles.

Mary's outfit today is mostly made of old clothing layers for system avatars, at least 10 years ago.  Mary's avatar is a mesh avatar, which is more realistic and better looking.  Anyway, these clothing layers I used today are akin to body paint, thus you can make out the nipples and such.  Plus they are lower in detail, not due to a limitation of the clothing layer but just lazy programming.  Looks good though, I think.  But the skirt is a mesh skirt.  If you were to search for that skirt on Marketplace, you would find going for 0 to 250 Lindens.  I guess it comes from a template that anyone can use and reuse.  Even though the skirt is everywhere for sale or for free, it's still a great looking skirt.

Business as usual

 I don't know what happiness is, but I am going to go ahead and build a house here for my wife as I planned.  It seems that Natty has found herself some other guy.  She had always been free to do so, and who can blame her?  She put up with me and my business for over 6 years, been by herself and kept her virginity, it has been very lonely.  However, I can't marry her if she gave up her chastity.  Forgiveness aside, I'm an old man and not well-endowed.  Loneliness it a fact of life to me, I don't know of any other kind of life.  But I can't say, "I'm just going to do my job then get the fuck out of here".  It's not that simple- Allah chose me to look after Mary Unknown7.  So I'm going to build a house her for my wife, and try to find happiness in marriage, to see if it existed for me.  I guess it makes sense to build the house first, huh?

There's nothing special about Mary's outfit today.  It's a greyish outfit I put together from separates, and she's not even wearing heels today.  All the items are freebies.  I think the top and skirt are pretty high quality.  Not the boots, but I do like them anyway, and I use them often.  I don't design clothes, I simply have too much other stuff to do.  But if we can take designs from real life and turn them into digital apparel for avatars, I'm sure the vice versa is possible, and generate a real world revenue for whoever does so.
