Rooted in ketchup

 

Hi Natty!  How are you today, Honey?  I hope everything is A-OK for you over there, and you are having tons of fun.  Say hi to your family for me, and keep safe and healthy.  I'm doing OK.  I'm having trouble finding filtered water for drinking.  I guess it's hard to keep those filters clean and still make a profit.  I might have to resort to tap water... ugh!  Coffee hides the taste of tap water, but it doesn't work for tea.

I went out to buy cat food today, and I also picked up some lentils and potatoes.  I have a lot of ketchup left.  Sure, I can make fries.  But I made a batch of dough yesterday, and I wanted to make a fries-like product using dough and mashed potatoes.  I took the sardines rolls concept and used mashed potatoes instead of sardines.  So I came up with er... potato balls?  It's like crispy buns with mashed potato filling?  Not curry pups with plain potato filling, more tater-totty than that.  Yes, it goes well with ketchup.  Needs fine tuning, so I call it a limited success.  Alhamdulillah.

Hi Natty!  Oh Honey, I don't really understand that post.  Those 2 little girls kind of look like you and your sister.  That's a nice doggy watching their backs.  My cats take care of bugs, small lizards and snakes that come into the house.  They were fighting tooth and claw for morsels of my sardine rolls that I had for lunch.  I have a song!  Check it out!  Kitty cat kitty cat meow meow meow!  Doggy woggy doggy woggy, bow wow wow!  What do you think?  It's a hit!  It's a hit!

Honey, I don't think you would ever get used to the big lizards here.  They are so common, they flourish here in the tropics, and they are HUGE!  No, I'm not the Lizard King!  I hate those things!  I've never been able to kill one.  I need a gun, and I need to carry the gun at all times.  There's been one skulking in my back yard for a few days already.  I figured out why it's there: further down the back yard by the old house there is a dead duck.  One of the neighbor's ducks.  I don't know what killed it, but it stinks like hell.

Hi Natty!  Oh Natty, you're so beautiful.  I love you so much.  I wish we were together.  You are probably in that endorsement stage in life, and business is booming.  So get it while you can, my dear heart.  Please keep safe and healthy.

If you folks can get past the pig, then you can see how the French do their street food.  It doesn't look like street food, more like an open air takeout restaurant.  I'm sure the French have stalls out there, I'll look into it.  As for the food, it looks more British than French.  What with the bangers and potatoes and beans.  Beans always seem to come in a sauce, like chili or baked beans.  Lentils taste so much better when they're crunchy though.  So I tried an experiment for dinner: I deep fried the soaked lentils until they got crunchy, then drained the oil.  Fried up the steak then added the crunchy lentils in.  I spiced and salted it up, then garnished it with fried onions and sesame seeds.  That's the concoction below, steak and crunchy lentils.  It was a success.  Alhamdulillah.  There is however, a perception problem.  It doesn't need rice or bread, the legumes carry the role and weight of grain.  So even though it was a filling dinner, it had the umami of a snack.  Does that make sense?  Dammit, I need to buy more lentils.
