The aging workforce

 

Hi Natty!  What's going on, Honey?  I'm sure you are keeping busy, so please make sure you guard your health and safety.  Have tons of fun OK!  Whew!  It's been a tiring day.  But interesting.  I made a musical discovery and I wanted to pursue it but alas, I need to rest and feed myself.  Patience.

I like watching videos about busy restaurant kitchens, because it keeps me humble.  So far, I can mostly find the Japanese release such videos.  I saw a 4 minute video of the kitchen of a "busy" 3 Michelin star French restaurant.  It was ridiculous.  The place was sparkling clean, and only 2 dishes were being made, both the same.  There was one guy painting sauce on a place, one guy putting fruit, one girl putting garnish etc.  With so much staff they must charge an arm and a leg per plate, which was just a few slices of pig over sauce and veggies/fruit.  I find the video above breathtaking not because of the size of the portions, but because of how old the staff is.  The owner said that the average age of the staff there was 71 years old.  And they were busting their asses too at that age, you can clearly see that those were real patrons not a setup.  You can also see how messed up the kitchen gets, you can see 50 years of wear and tear on the walls and floor.  What you don't see is the full amount of prep needed and the cleanup after the rush.  These people have my pity and respect.  I'm so grateful to be out of the restaurant business.  Alhamdulillah.  Thus the people preparing our food is an aging workforce.  The younger generation wants to do tech, but you can't eat tech.  The other extreme is just as bad.  Do you know about Pol Pot and his agrarian society, and what happened there?  I guess no one wants to do labor anymore, but would you want robots to prepare our food?

Roast chicken

 

Hi Natty!  How are you today, Honey?  I hope you are feeling great and having a marvelous time over there.  It's just an average day here for me.  But I do have some new kittens!  After I wrote to you last night, Lookie came out of the nest for water, and I took the opportunity to change the towel and check for any babies that did not survive.  Alhamdulillah they all survived, and there are 4 of them!  Remarkably, they were all sitting up at the corner of the nest and staring at me with closed eyes.  And they all look like their father!  Adolf Kitler is amassing a gang of his clones for a Cat Supremacist army!  Except for one who has calico markings on its head, as you can see in the photo below.  I guess I mistook that one for looking like Floofy.  I don't have names for them yet, I'll wait until they get bigger.

Jamie Oliver seems to have a good recipe for roast chicken, I'm sure it tastes good.  Bad plating though, Jamie.  Tsk, tsk.  My Mom gave me half a chicken, so I had roast chicken and rice for dinner.  I only cooked the wing attached to the breast bone (I put aside the breast meat for other uses) and the leg.  It's a simple process: I rub the chicken with sauce and slow cook it on the stove top in a closed pot.  With chunks of eggplant.  Roast chicken needs a sweetener and I didn't want to use any of my honey, so I bought a small bottle of the cheapest chilli sauce, that's certain to have sugar in it.  I added soy sauce, chopped garlic, black pepper and curry powder, that's the sauce.  I had to rub the sauce into the chicken with my bare hands which was a challenge, because I was being attacked by vicious beasts and my hands were messed up with sauce.  But I'm still alive, and had a nice dinner.  Alhamdullilah.  Want some?

Kittens!

 

Hi Natty!  How are you today, Honey?  I hope everything is going well for you over there, and you are having tons of fun.  Please keep safe and healthy OK!  The big news of the day is that Lookie gave birth!  Yes, the babies came some time during Mary's set.  After she went home, it was time to feed the cats.  Lookie came out talking to me, and her figure looked the same so I assumed she hadn't delivered yet.  Then she went up to Rambo and tried to drag her/him off somewhere.  She had no interest in food, then Rambo pointed out the puddle on the floor.  Her water had broken!  Then I heard tiny little meows, and I went to the nest and saw kittens!  They were full term this time, and could crawl and cry!  One looks exactly like the father, so it's unlikely that one is female.  The other looks like Floofy, and calicos are usually female.  I love kittens!  Alhamdulillah!  I haven't had a chance to check for stillborns because the mother has since gone back into the nest and hasn't come out.  I guess I'll find out when I find out.  Hopefully there are none.

Hi Natty!  How are you today, Honey?  I hope everything is running smoothly for you over there, and you are safe and healthy.  Please make a donation in the name of Allah of a minimum of one USD to a worthwhile charity.  There's not much going on here today other than the usual.  I just had spaghetti for dinner!  Sardines in marinara sauce!  The cats loved it.  I'm getting quite good with sardines and tomato sauce, alhamdulillah.  Anyway, I'm going to do wardrobe next then veg out in front of the TV after I do fashion review.  I love you!
