Wojtek's choice

Hi Natty!  How are you, Honey?  I hope everything is going great for you over there.  What's for dinner?  I bought some grilled glutinous rice to go with the pulled beef I prepared.  This time, I cooked up the beef in my lemongrass sauce, it should work quite well.  I also peeled a few mangoes to eat when breaking fast, then I pray the sunset prayer before eating dinner.  Dinner after Maghrib!  That's my Ramadan routine.

Isn't that a great bass player?  I've been playing bass a lot lately, because I'm finalizing the bass parts for "Rise of the Horizon Creature" aka "Search for the Beast".  There are some magnificent bass players out there right now, the best ever in history!  I'm nowhere near as good, but I'm adequate for writing music.  The musicians today are incredible, because of the Internet.  I've never seen anything like it.  I've been using Mary's avatar to leave comments on YouTube here and there (people get really psyched when they think I'm her, and sometimes it is her!)  I see the bass as an instrument that's not a guitar, and serves a specific function in music, which is to solidify songs.  Great as he is, I don't think Wojtek is the best bass player alive today.  I won't state who I think is the best bass player alive today here on this blog, because I already did so on YouTube.  Social media is bigger than you think, folks!

Standing straight

Hi Natty!  How's life today?  I hope you are having fun and staying healthy.  I have ramen on the menu this evening.  I can't start them too early or the yuba will get too soft.  Right now, I'm soaking the seaweed.  I'll commence making the broth after I post this letter.  I don't know if it's fasting or just getting old, but I find the best way to get that weight off one's shoulders is to stand up straight.  Walk straight.  Easier said than done, especially if you have messed up feet.  But it need to be done, otherwise risk turning into Jabba the Hutt.  Ramadan this year is smack in the middle of mango season.  Big money!  Big crowds out there, I don't even want to take out the trash.  I harvested some mangoes myself, I plan on eating mangoes all month.  Don't need any other sweets.  Oh, smoothies!  I have to do that project!  Anyway, it's time to start the broth.  I put in the noodle brick after the sunset prayer.  I love you!

Ants!

Hi Natty!  What's going on with you today?  I hope you are feeling great and having a wonderful time, and everyone else around you is fine.  I thought I would have an easy day today.  I didn't have much labor scheduled for myself, just to clean the 2 fans in my bedroom.  After that I went to the kitchen to make iced tea, and I found my kitchen invaded by ants!  2 types of swarms, a small red biting type and a black skinny annoying type.  They had taken over my counter top, so I had to lay a large dose of bug spray on it.  I cover my counter top with a thick plastic wrap, and the ants had inundated the entire structure.  I couldn't just leave the pesticide oozing out, cat paws are very sensitive to this poison.  So I needed a solution, a different counter top.  I washed and bleached some used floor tiles and arranged them to make a new counter top.  I secured the lot with some roofing nails so cats can't tip them over onto the ground and shatter them, thus my new counter top is made out 8 panels of tiles which I can pull out and wash in the sink.  Therefore I can leave the bug poison under the tiles.

Coffee

Hi Natty!  How are you today?  I hope all is well and happy with you and your family.  I am feeling worn out.  The first few days of Ramadan are usually the toughest.  I give up coffee for Ramadan, because I only drink one cup in the afternoon.  Coffee helps keep me awake when Mary puts me into a coma.  Today I kept on fainting, but I got through the 2 hour session OK.  Incidentally, I ran out of coffee and Coffee Mate one day before Ramadan.  Right now, I'm boiling some potatoes for fries in the morning.  Then I will fry up my bread after I post this blog.  I want my bread as fresh as possible at sunset.  Oh!  I want to sleep!  But it's too hot and sweaty!

So which is better, coffee or speed?  Breaking Bad!

Qur'an 20210413

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful.

1.  Say, "O you who reject faith!"

2.  I worship not that which you worship.

3.  Nor will you worship that which I worship.

4.  And I will not worship that which you have been wont to worship.

5.  Nor will you worship that which I worship.

6.  To you be your way and to me mine.

Those who reject faith 109:1-6

Ramadan starts tomorrow

Hi Natty!  How are you ?  I hope all is well with you and your family.  I am doing OK over here, I'm still stuck in the kitchen, getting ready for Ramadan which begins tomorrow.  Fasting during Ramadan is a task for Muslims only, folks.  So if you are not Muslim, then don't fast.  Not even to be polite or show support.  I cannot be married to a non-Muslim so Natty, I need you to memorize this prayer by the time we marry inshaAllah.  In Arabic, please.

I wanted to make "sambal tumis" (chillies, onions, and "belacan"(fermented shrimp paste) blended then fried in oil until saturated) to go with rice, eggs and crunchy anchovies.  I made too much spicy mango dip aka "garam belacan" the other day.  "Garam belacan" is "belacan", sugar, soy sauce, chillies and crushed peanuts.  So I thought I would dump some of that stuff into my "sambal tumis".  After blending it with fresh onions and rehydrated chillies I tasted it, and hey!  It's pretty darned good!  I don't need to even cook it up nor add grease!  So I packed it up and stuffed it into the freezer.  My cooler is full right now, especially the freezer.  It's still full from the 6 kilos of fish I bought for Adolf Kitler.  Well, 3 kilos.  I used half already.

Wide eyed

Hi Natty!  Oh a family reunion!  It must be Canada, everyone's dressed warm and not half naked.  What's the occasion?  Is it Christmas already?

Not much going on over here, just the same old same old.  It's Sunday, so I was busy all day, and worn out right now.  I got up this morning and Adolf Kitler was staring at me for a long time, totally mesmerized.  He's over it now, but I wonder what interested him so much.  I'm still preparing for the fasting month, today I made a batch of dough and I'm starting another hot sauce to go with rice, fried anchovies and eggs.  Rice is so labor intensive though, maybe I should rethink that...  Anyway, you look like you're having fun!  I love you!
