The graveyard

Hi Natty!  How's it going?  I pray that all is well with you, and life is easy-going.  It's Sunday here today for me, and Sundays are always busy.  I clean my mother's bedroom every Sunday morning, so the first thing I do when I wake up is go buy my lunch so I don't have to cook it.  After Mary Unknown7's voice session, I had to get back to doing yard work.  This time I had to cut the grass over at my grandparents' grave.  The graveyard is close to my house, a short drive on the motorcycle with the weed whacker on my back.  It's an unkempt place, with long grass, thorns, a few coconut trees, and many other trees with low-hanging branches.  I'm the only one who visits my grandparents, and it's interesting to see which graves are taken care of.  That's because local politics are very family driven, but few seem to care about their dead relatives.  The grass wasn't long today over by my grandparents' grave, but the tree over them had branches that almost touched the ground.  I had to stoop under the branches with the weed whacker running, and it rained ants on me.  Army ants.  That was unpleasant, but I got the task done.  After that I went home and cut the grass outside my mother's bedroom window, and my own back yard.  I had to cook my own dinner.  It was a good thing I had some curry pup fixings left, so I fried those up and while they were cooling on the rack, I took a shower.  I ate my dinner while watching the Jap kids' video, and finished the last curry pup right as they called the sunset prayer.  I had 4 of those huge curry pups the last time, this time I ate 6 so I'm pretty stuffed.  Alhamdulillah.

Curry pups

Hi Natty!  How are you?  I hope you are healthy and happy.  It's just another average day here for me.  I spent most of it in the kitchen.  I made some curry pups (also known as curry puffs) stuffing yesterday, so that's what I had for lunch: curry pups.  They're basically dough stuffed with curry flavored meat and potatoes, you can buy them from many stalls by the side of the road nowadays for 3 for RM1.  They're not very big, about the size of a small computer mouse at the most.  I can't make them that small because my hands are too big, so each one I make is at least 3 times the normal size.  It's a nice filling meal when they're that big.  I ate 4.

Sambal tumis ikan bilis scrambled eggs on pita bread

Hi Natty!  How are you today?  I hope you are healthy and happy, and enjoying yourself.  I can see that you are way more social than me, especially on your birthday, so please be cautious.  Please make sure you neutralize even the slightest sensation of a cold or flu symptom immediately.  I've been so lazy lately because of pizza.  Well I am lazy, just lazier than usual.  Yeah pizza is important, but today I had to get back to doing yard work now that I've run out of cheese.  So I cut the grass in the evening.  Whenever I have to do labor, sometimes I can sound like Scarface.  Labor brings out the Scarface in me.  Maybe it's because I watched "Scarface" the other night.

Some people like to experiment with food by eating centipedes and bats, I like to experiment with simple ingredients.  Maybe it's because I'm poor.  Maybe if I had lots of money, I would start eating centipedes and bats.  Anyway, I recently made a successful batch of "sambal tumis" (chillies, onions, and "belacan" (fermented shrimp paste) blended then fried in oil until saturated) and I had some dough left over from making pizza.  So I made some pita bread.  Then I had some crunchy anchovies which were so hard because they were cheap, so I ground those up into a powder.  I refried that, added the "sambal tumis", then scrambled a couple of eggs over that.  It turned out quite well.  I also had half a chub of ground beef left over from making sausage, so I mixed that with chopped onions, cooked potatoes, salt and pepper.  I took out half of that mix then added curry powder and spices to make a mix for stuffing curry pups.  From the mix that didn't have curry, I made a couple of burger patties.  I fried those up and it turned out quite well as well, so for dinner I had a couple of beef and potato burgers.

Pizza is great

Hi Natty!  How are you?  Have you had your pizza yet?  I love pizza.  I've been eating a lot of pizza lately.  Lately instead of doing yard work, I've been making pizza.  Tonight's pizza was sausage and jalapenos.  Well, the local equivalent of jalapenos.  But that was it, I've run out of cheese and I can't afford to buy more.  So it's back to doing yard work.  I've done all I could for the International Pizza Month.  At least I didn't disrespect pizza by not celebrating the Great Pizza Day like some people, who not only have the means but also the responsibility to dress up like a pizza, eat nothing but pizza, and drink pizza flavored soda.  These people will be remembered by history as being "not great" or even worse, "not that great".  You're an activist, right?  Maybe you can get some people together and go around chanting, "Pizza is great!  Pizza is great!"

Qur'an 20200716

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful.

13.  But if they turn away, say, "I have warned you of a stunning punishment like that of the 'Ad and the Thamud!"

Expounded 41:13

Not that great

Hi Natty!  How's it going?  Oh, Happy Birthday to your twin brother as well.  I really think you should have had a pizza instead of chocolate cake.  It's a good thing your birthday falls on Great Pizza Day, so you automatically celebrate it, and therefore be great.  Me, I'm not that great.  I only ate one pizza yesterday, I didn't dress up as a pizza, and I don't know where to get pizza flavored soda.  Other people have the means, but they are just "wannabe great".

I do have enough cheese left for 2 pizzas, but the basil has to grow back.  So no sausage and basil pizza.  I made dough in the morning, and I planned to eat more pizza for dinner.  Screw the yard work, I want more pizza!  But what's it going to be?  Sausage and jalapeno would be my 2nd choice, but I would have to go out and buy peppers.  Damn that.  Next would be sausage and garlic, but I couldn't sleep with that stench, and I sleep alone!  I remember people who ordered pizza with triple garlic.  Wow.  I'm glad I'm not their friend.  I have a mint patch in my yard and it's quite large, so I decided on sausage and mint.  It's a bit on the eclectic side, but it worked.  More pizza!

Qur'an 20200715

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful.

6.  Say, "I am but a man like you.  It is revealed to me by inspiration, that your God is One God, so stand true to God, and ask for God's forgiveness."  And woe to those who worship many gods.

7.  Those who practice not charity, and who even deny the hereafter.

8.  For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail.

9.  Say, "Is it that you deny God Who created the earth in two days?  And do you join equals with God?  God is the Lord of the worlds."

Expounded 41:6-9
