Mackerel

I've got to make this quick honey, I need a nap before voice training.  Mackerel is a small fish.  The locals use it in everything, so it's been expensive lately.  But yesterday, it went for 3 kilos for RM10.  So I will be living high on the mackerel for a few days.  I put a couple of bags aside for Queen Floofy, and the rest is all mine.  There are 2 types of mackerel to deal with here: the ones with loose stomachs, and the ones without.  If the stomachs are loose then they are easy to fillet- you just peel them like a banana.  So I had nearly a half kilo of sashimi last night for dinner, and for lunch today was mackerel in hot sour soup.  No noodles, no rice.  Just the fish, ma'am.  Want some?

Natty, how's the ride?  I know you like to live in the shadow of your brother.  You do it for love and I understand, because I need your love too.  My concern is how you live, I want you to take this opportunity to make your own money while you can.  And your brother can be the next 007.  If Daniel Craig is going for one more movie, then that's good news.  It gives your brother time to get into character.

Hot and drowsy

Oh, I'm soooo sleepy.  It's just that time of the day.  I'm certainly more productive at night, but I can't do yard work at night.  Thank God!  I definitely enjoy sitting in front of a computer more, but yard work is healthier for me and others.  If only my yard had air conditioning.  How are you feeling today, my darling?  I hope you are feeling great.  I love you.

Natty, it's almost time for your birthday.  I do have something prepared for you, but I don't have money so please forgive me for the free-ness of my gift.  Rather, to buy you a bauble would simpler and quicker.  To be honest with you, I don't know exactly when your birthday is, so please forgive me if I'm off in my birthday greeting.

And I would certainly enjoy the cool weather if I had not caught a cold.  I hope you are feeling healthy and confident.  I thought I had designed a powerful anti-cold defense system and routine, but the Flu Virus Collective broke through my defenses like diarrhea through.... well, you know what I mean.  I don't think the cold and flu is ever to be conquered by humans, that's why the nostrils point downwards.  I couldn't sing much, and when I did it sounded awful.  So I rested a lot, and cut back on most physical labor.  I watched "Casino".  That's supposed to be derived from a true story.  The Mob can't be a creative force, so I enjoy analyzing which parts of the movie are true and which parts are designed to throw us off.

Say Natty, your brother has to try to be more callous if he wants to be like James Bond.  If he wants to, that is.  He seems such a nice guy.  Right now there are so many unknowns out there, I don't see any new credible 007 available, but your brother would be the most marketable I think.  Or it's probably that I have no interest in other new actors.  Keep it in the family, probably.  Anyway, Bond is supposed to be a womanizing chauvinist.

Subject to the rain

There, I was bragging a couple of weeks ago that I haven't caught the cold in months.  Then last night it came with a fury.  It came with the rain.  It came before the rain.  No, I can't be that sensitive... only Allah knows when it's going to rain.  I was fine in the morning, then half an hour before voice training it came with a vengeance.  You know how it's like eating a dozen tacos with lots of hot sauce, then needing to go to the bathroom...  That's how this cold was, except what needed to purge was my nose.  I went into a sneezing fit, then had to dump everything in my sinus cavity.  I'm guessing that you probably wouldn't dump the sinus cavity like I do, but I need to minimize the stress on my voice as much as possible, plus I believe that infected sinus fluids are extremely dangerous.  As it was, I could only sing for less than an hour yesterday, and I don't know if I could sing at all today.  We'll see.  By the way, don't let others who criticize your choice of music bring you down.  You like what you like.  It's the same difference that I wouldn't allow you to influence my songwriting.  It's nothing personal with you, it's simply personal with me.

Jackfruit

Gag... it's hot today.  How's it going, Honey?  I hope you're feeling great, because I love you so much.  I'm quite used to living life on my own, but I certainly want to share my life with you.  I would share some sweet fruit with you, do you like tropical fruit?  I don't have a sweet tooth like my Mom, but sometimes I enjoy sweet fruit.  There are 2 types of jackfruit trees on the compound: "nangka" and "cempedak".  The second type is sweeter, in a sickly sweet way, and that's what we have today.  The only certain way to know a jackfruit is ready for picking is by smelling it.  I was trimming down a starfruit tree that was overwhelmed with vines, which is right next to the jackfruit tree behind my house.  There is only one fruit on that tree this year: it was hanging just above my head, and I could smell it when I was operating the chainsaw.  But when I took it down, I couldn't smell it anymore.  There were some peck marks on the shell, so I guess the birds were fooled too: they could smell it, but when they pecked at it, the fruit was bitter.  So I left the fruit on my porch, perhaps it needed more time to mature.  Yesterday evening, the smell returned, so I opened it up, removed the fleshy seeds, and put them in the cooler.  I offered some to my Mom as there was a lot of it, but she didn't want it as I had kept it in the cooler.  She's fussy.

Happy 4th of July, by the way!  That's a sexy swimsuit Natty, and you sure look good in it.  I do hope you realize that you're going to have to cut down on your showing off after we are married inshaAllah.  Kids.  Global and spiritual politics.
