Hi Natty! How are you, Honey? Are you on vacation and getting lots of sleep? Oh, I felt so sleepy today. I took a nap and it didn't help. I couldn't get rid of the drowsiness. It was a busy day, too. I knew it was going to be busy, so I cooked up a pot of rice first thing in the morning, so I could have rice ready for fried rice in the evening. I bought some dried bok choy at the Chinese market the other day, which would be great for ramen broth, so I put one into the rice pot to steam along with the rice. As I suspected, it did add flavor and color to the rice. The fried rice was otherwise routine: chopped garlic first (with some galangal), then the rice, a spoon of anchovy bouillon, soy sauce for color, cabbage and carrots (plus the steamed bok choy), then egg last. But this time I had some orange juice. Somebody gave the family some oranges from China (in occasion of the Chinese New Year coming up) and I got a case. I made some orange juice, but the oranges are tart. Plus I blended the pulp and seeds, and that made it bitter. But I could use it to add tartness to the fried rice, as long as I didn't use too much. It worked, and dinner was a success. It looked good too, I should have taken a photo. Want some? Oh, I ate it all. Adolf knew I didn't put any meat in there so he wasn't interested, but Lookie gobbled it up. Vegetarian! Except for the egg. Light and refreshing!
