Diane Selwyn

Hi Honey!  You look quite comfy there.  It's nice to see you nice and relaxed, which is great for me because I want you to be happy.  That's a beautiful neck you have there.  Please stay away from vampires.  I'm blogging earlier than usual today.  It's Tuesday, so I have to blog and run.  I just slammed my dinner down, and almost got a fish bone stuck in my throat from eating too quickly.  I want to talk about a movie today.  No Honey, you don't have to watch this movie unless you want to.  I just feel like talking about it.

"Mulholland Drive" is fiction not fact, so it is rather stupid to explain what goes on in the movie with science and psychology, but it also isn't wrong to do so.  That is the movie: "anything goes" is what David Lynch wants the audience to do.  That's why he won't explain the movie.  But we who love the movie want to put it into words.  I don't accept that all the movie is carefully planned: it is a go-with-the-flow event, as Lynch admits that it was supposed to be a TV series, then became a movie, specifically after a sudden 30 minute brainstorm from where he had to go back and reshoot scenes.  So did he make any mistakes?  Let's assume he took care of everything.  Say, David Lynch kind of looks like Eraserhead...
For me the movie begins with Dan, who is clairvoyant.  He gets 2 identical dreams which frighten him, and he realizes that there is a man behind the walls, at the back of Winkie's, who is "doing it".  This man is a tramp living behind the dumpster, and is similar to the angel of death, and appears more towards the end of the movie.  I was initially duped into believing that the timeline begins when Camilla opens the blue box.  But the tramp throws the blue box into the trash: there is no timeline.  Out of the trash comes Irene and her companion, they accompanied Betty on the flight to Hollywood, then became the phantoms that drove Diane Selwyn to her suicide.

Betty is the ghost of Diane Selwyn, and her purpose is to save the life of the woman she loves, Camilla Rhodes.  Camilla is set up to be assassinated by the Mob and replaced by another Camilla Rhodes.  But the setup failed due to a car accident, and Camilla escapes with her life to Aunt Ruth's apartment, but loses her memory.  Now Camilla didn't give back Diane's love, but Diane still wants to help her, even though she hired a hit man to kill Camilla out of jealousy.  This hit man is incompetent, and we see that he never finds Camilla.  There is a possibility that the hit man that Diane hired did succeed in killing Camilla (then Camilla joins Diane at the end as a ghost) since we find the blue key on Diane's coffee table, but I am more inclined to believe that he put the key there before finding Camilla then spent Diane's money on hookers.  Seeing the blue key on her table and out of guilt, Diane as a ghost strives to help Camilla escape death by getting Camilla to disappear, and Camilla does disappear disguised as a blonde, while Diane gets some revenge on certain directors in the meantime.  In the end, Camilla gives back Diane's love out of gratitude for saving her life, and Diane Selwyn finally finds happiness as a ghost.  That is the love story.  Not a positive message though.  People who commit suicide unjustifiably have to relive their lives that they loathed in an endless loop.

Camilla is the one who primarily sees illusions.  Apparitions are generally thought of as being projections from the past, but the reverse is also valid: they are also projections of the present or future.  This is where the timeline breaks down: some events are linear like Adam Kesher's marriage, and some events are loops like Adam Kesher's awareness of Diane Selwyn.  But really, all the events are irrelevant to what really matters: the love that Diane Selwyn has.  This story is a collection of explosions that occur in an area, the area being the connection between all the explosions.  Then the area is turned upside down.

Local fare

Hi Honey!  How are you feeling today?  It must be getting colder over there, so I hope you are staying warm yet keeping your cool.  It's a fairly cool today over here.  I was busy all day, but my heart was calm enough to take my time and get everything done with time to spare.  Cool weather always makes me feel better.  I ran errands in the morning.  I picked up my Dad's prescription, bought a sewing needle with a big eye (so I can use fishing line instead of cloth thread) and cable blades for the grass cutter.  I had lunch downtown, flat bread with curry.  After voice training, I cut the grass.  I bought my dinner at the night market.  It's local fare, common food here but I don't think you would have ever encountered it.  I bought some "apom balik" which is a flat cake with peanuts and sugar, then folded over.  Sweet.
Then I got a "cucur udang" dinner set.  Prawn croquettes with cucumber, boiled egg, fried tofu with peanut sauce on the side.  Savory sweet.
It's not what I would cook, but that is a good thing because I didn't have to cook.

The collar

Urgh, people are gossiping!  And it's driven you to tears!  You hate it when people talk about you.  Even if they were saying something good about you, you hate it, you hate it, you HATE IT!  Don't worry Honey, everything is going to be just fine.  You're going to handle this with great aplomb.  After all, you were born into a showbiz family, you already have the mentality to tackle this issue.  The problem with gossip is mostly what people do to themselves.  Luka has some ear mites, and today I cleaned her ears several times.  Believe me, they are spotless.  But she's a nervous cat.  A few months ago, she was ripping her fur out because of one flea.  That's right, ONE flea.  So even if a slight wind tickles her ears, she beats them up.  Passionately.  It's a good thing she has the collar on.  So what's the moral of this story?  Give up your addiction to social media if you don't want to hear people talk about you.  Oh, but do you love social media?  You're addicted to it?  Sigh.  Natty, ignore them OK?
The other option is to not put any value in what they say.  Let their words bounce off you like water off a duck's feathers.  It's what I do.  Plus, you are the only social media I look at.  Can you do that?  I'm sure you can.  You are resilient.  You are MY girl, and I love you.  I will marry you inshaAllah.

By the way, Sundays are PINK!!!

Qur'an 20181104

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful.

29.  Say, "Whether you hide what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows it all.  God knows what is in the heavens, and what is on earth, and Allah has power over all things."

30.  On the day when every soul will be confronted with all the good it has done, and all the evil it has done, it will wish there were a great distance between it and its evil.  But Allah cautions you Godself, and Allah is full of kindness to those that serve God.

31.  Say, "If you do love Allah, follow me.  Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, most Merciful."

32.  Say, "Obey Allah and God's messenger."  But if they turn back, Allah loves not those who reject faith.

(The Family of Imran 3:29-32)

Ice blue

Hi Honey!  How's it going today, my love?  Are you keeping your cool?  Yes, it should be getting quite cold over there.  It's a nice cool day here.  It was so comfortable this morning, that I had such a difficult time getting up.  When I did get up, I felt so sluggish doing the chores.  I guess that's the problem with being too comfortable, is that we become sluggish.  But it felt so good!  I felt so happy.  I love comfortable weather.  It stayed nice and cool all day, and right now I only have one fan on.

The guy that was always shooting me while I sing was finally taken care of, so I'm not being disturbed by him right now.  I suspect he had his account shut down due to his acts of griefing, just as I expect he would log in as an alt with a different username so he could get some sort of revenge.  It's like the ancient days, the people who murdered Jesus Christ (peace be on him), also nowadays the people who murder those who strive for just dealings, they don't care about God.  They think they will never be caught.  However, God had severe punishment prepared for them.

I didn't get that many good snapshots with my photo shoot.  Oh well, it can't be always a good day.

Qur'an 20181103

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful.

26.  Say, "O Allah!  Lord of Power, You give power to whom You please, and You strip off power from whom You please.  You endue with honor whom You please, and You bring low whom You please.  In Your hand is all Good.  Verily, over all things You have Power."

A day of curry

Hi Honey!  How are you feeling today?  Are you getting excited again?  Oh well, wherever you go, there you are.  We can't escape who we are.  Just enjoy the ride, and hang on to yourself.  I had harvested some coconuts a week ago, because I had planned to make curry.  Then all these other foods popped up, and only today I got to do my curry project.  I always make a generic curry, one that you can add beef, chicken, fish or whatever to, or just eat it by itself.  My Mom showed me a way to mix in the curry spices so that it doesn't clump, it's very effective.  I processed the coconut milk so it was runnier than usual, but the curry still came out quite thick.  I took out half of it then ate some of that for lunch with fry bread.  The other half, I wanted to make lentil curry.  Lentils usually break up very easily, but I had been cooking this curry all day and the lentils are still quite snappy.  Probably because I didn't soak them overnight.  Oh no, I forgot a chunk of salted fish!  At least the lentil curry got the salted fish, and it really makes a difference in flavor.  My Mom gave me a baguette, and I ate that with the lentil curry for dinner.  Do you like curry?
