The big carrot

 

Hi Natty!  Oh, quesadillas!  No, that's enchiladas!  I mean marguerites!  I don't consume marguerites Honey, for obvious reasons.  But I must forgive you, right?  You're such a clever girl!  That's some nice looking food, too.  A very model diet.  Very citrusy and shrimpy.  They should have given you bigger shrimp, though.

I couldn't survive on that kind of food.  I need protein, or I'll get heart problems.  No, soybeans don't cut it.  It must be animal flesh.  Shrimp isn't enough either, unless it's a kilo at a time.  I went to the market this morning.  There were some big old carrots there.  That's what I had for dinner.  First I chopped up garlic and galangal then browned that up, then added the sliced carrots and cabbage, then chunks of beef.  A teaspoon of anchovy bouillon, cooked it until the vegetables softened up and dumped the whole lot onto a pot of steamed rice.  Finally I topped it off with dried shallots and soy sauce.  Simplicity!  One of the best meals I ever had in my life.  Alhamdulillah.

Egg roll

 

Hi Natty!  You are looking beautiful, my darling.  I love you with all of my heart.  When I saw the saguaros, I thought you were in Arizona.  Then I saw the coast.  Looks nice and warm by the beach, just as you like it.  You seem like you're having fun, so keep at it.

No, that's not an egg roll.  It's stuffed with beef, garlic, ginger and dried shallots.  And that's regular dough, so it rose big and chewy.  It's more like a pizza roll, even though it tastes nothing like a pizza.  It's OK, the flavor is dependent on the dipping sauce which in this case is the cheapest store bought chilli sauce.  It's inspired by my sardine rolls, which you must try someday because they're very tasty.  But I am gravitating towards egg rolls now, so next time I'm at the Chinese market I'll have to buy some hot mustard powder.  Egg rolls are typically stuffed with bean sprouts or cabbage.  No egg.  I don't know why they are called egg rolls.  I should probably get the proper wrapping sheets, but I feel that regular dough is fine, even more filling, as long as I have the hot mustard.  Chilli sauce sucks for egg rolls.

 Hi Natty!  How are you feeling, Honey?  I hope you are having a great time over there, and that people are treating you with respect, especially the big shots.  Please keep safe and healthy, no matter how mundane the invitation.  I'm doing OK over here, I just had fried rice for dinner.  The flavor was acceptable, but I didn't like the color nor texture.  I think it's because the cooked rice didn't sit in the cooler for half a day.  I don't know how those people on TV make fried rice from freshly steamed rice, it must be awful.  Also there was too much rice.  I also had rice for lunch.  It's been an overload on rice day.  I'm stuffed.  With rice.  So are my cats.  My cats love rice, which is strange for cats.

Anna and her fleas stole the blog yesterday, so I'm going to feature the the other 3 kittens today.

This is Otto!

This is Helmut.  I have bad feet, from all those years I worked in the food business.  Most of the cats I had generally hate my feet, but this cat thinks my feet are fresh carrion and he's the top vulture in the house.

And this last one is Gunhilde.  My kittens look mature for their age, huh!  It's probably because I held them by the scruff when I took their photos.  I assure you folks, that they very tiny and fragile.  And so adorable!  Alhamdulillah.  Kittens are the best!  I love kittens.
