Sunday

Hi Natty!  How are you today?  How are the mountains?  Ah, I kind of miss mountain weather.  I hope you are having a marvelous time, and keeping yourself safe and healthy.  It's Sunday over here for me.  I had an interesting morning.  Early morning, about 4 am.  I always wake up early to do some extra worship then computer work.  I hadn't turned anything on yet, and I always flip the switches on the power strips as well so nothing is dormant.  But the speakers had life to them though, they were crackling and buzzing even though there was no power going to them.  No, they don't run on rechargeable batteries.

I have a feeling you like jicama, Natty.  It's a refreshing flavor, and yet people seldom use them in salads.  I think the trick is to use them as the body of the salad, like lettuce.  So I made a jicama and tomato salad.  I cut the jicama into strips like the photo above, and the tomatoes into thin slices.  I julienned kaffir lime leaves for punch and added them into the mix.  I suppose you could use basil, but it's not the same.  I have a kaffir lime tree in my yard.  It never fruits, but I'm not interested in the fruit.  I like the nice tender shoots.  Anyway, that's all there is: jicama, tomatoes, and kaffir lime leaves.  For dressing is soy sauce and some lime/lemon juice, with a dash of black pepper.  Mix it up and serve immediately, don't let it sit and get soggy.  It's an awesome salad, I think you would like it.

Whoops!  I forgot to turn on ALM (Advanced Light Model) for the snapshots!  Mary's outfit today is:

Qur'an 20220313

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful.

26.  Allah does enlarge, or grant by measure, the sustenance to whom so God pleases.  Rejoice in the life of this world, but the life of this world is but little comfort in the Hereafter.

27.  The unbelievers say, "Why is not a Sign sent down to him from his Lord?"  Say, "Truly Allah leaves to stray whom God wills, but God guides to Godself those who turn to God in penitence."

The Thunder 13:26-27

Movie night

Hi Natty!  Oh, where are you now?  That definitely looks like the Rocky Mountains to me.  In fact, those look like the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City, and you are at a townhouse complex in West Valley City or something.  But I don't think you would waste your time being in such an unfashionable place like SLC, so I'm going to go with Vail, Colorado.  Vail sounds more upscale, befitting a high class babe like you.

Tonight is movie night!  "The Queen's Gambit" (2020).  OK, it's a TV series.  A 7 hour movie.  "The Lord of the Rings" was an 11 hour movie.  Or was that 12?  It's all the same after a point: a damned long movie.  But I was really into "The Queen's Gambit",  I was cheering for Beth all the way, and riveted to every moment.  It's a fairy tale, but without a Prince Charming.  The princess is pretty, talented, intelligent, beats the boys at their own game, and surrounded by boys.  Ew!  I loved this movie.  I mean, TV series.

Beef stew ramen

Hi Natty!  How are you today?  I hope you are doing well over there, and having a great time.  I just finished dinner, and got out of the shower.  Dinner was spaghetti with spicy sardine and eggplant sauce.  The cats love my sardine sauce.  Of course they would love it, it's sardines.  My mother gave me some beef stew the other day, but Friday is ramen day for me.  I was craving ramen for lunch.  So I strained the stew and used the broth for my ramen, and I added some of the chunks back in for body.  Mom's stew is perfectly salted, but not for ramen.  I needed extra salt for the noodles, so I used a little of the seasoning pack.  Not the whole thing!  Also a bit of tofu.  When it was hot enough, I boiled the ramen brick until there was a little bit of bend to it then transferred it into the bowl on top of a little bit of soy sauce.  You want the noodles to be firm.  Why?  Because I cracked an egg beside the brick, then added the steaming hot broth over it to get a soft boiled egg.  Yummy!  I love ramen.  East meets West!  ¥500 000 a bowl!

A whale of a mess

Hi Natty!  My, you are looking sharp as usual.  Those boots look comfortable.  And they look good, too.  How are you doing today, Honey?  I hope all is well with you.  I can't help looking at the news.  I'm an old man, huh.  The Russians are blowing up hospitals now.  What a mess.  But I'm glad to see the US conservatives find a more dignified candidate at last, instead of being forced to fall back on a wimp who chose to suck Putin instead of standing up to him.
