Sorry about the interruption in the streams during Mary's set today, folks.  Someone shut off the Internet to my ISP 45 minutes into the set.  But you die hard fans didn't miss a note, right?  Thank you for your love.

There's a day market every Tuesday a couple of miles from my house, and I went there first thing in the morning to get some stuff for my ramen.  I needed veggies and salted fish, and my budget was 10 bucks.  Someone was selling clams for 6 bucks a kilo, so I gave in and bought half a kilo.  It is ramen day, after all.  I left the market spending 11 bucks.  I haven't had clams in years, I think.  Perlis has muddy beaches, which is a treasure trove for shellfish and snails.  My stomach can't handle shellfish and snails though, because of the mud.  But it's ramen day, and I wanted clam broth for a change.  First thing to do is to scrub the clams.  Next is to steam them in a closed pot until they open up.  This generated about a cup of broth, my ramen soup is about 3 cups so I added water.   Also anchovy bouillon (because the clam juice got watered down) and a spoon of my fermented miso.  Deep flavor!  This made a creamy/clear broth.  I expected to get a good photo, but it wasn't photogenic for some reason.  So I went ahead and started to eat it, then I realized that I forgot to put the clams back in.  I already drank half the soup and ate all the carrots by then.  So what's the selling price of this bowl of ramen?  Well only ¥50000, since I forgot to put back the clams and it gave me the runs.

Squid

 

Hi Natty!  There's a beautiful full moon out tonight, have you seen it?  The moon is solitary in the night sky over here, everything else is smothered by haze.  That's a beautiful waterfall, Honey.  You seem totally in awe.  A waterfall in a dream means you will attain your fondest wish.  What did you wish for?  You have stars in your eyes.  By the way Honey, you look so beautiful even in modest clothes.

My brother gave me some frozen squid this month.  I don't know about you Honey, but I don't like my squid to be overcooked.  Nor shrimp nor lobster.  Nor chicken.  When I get squid, I process it by separating the head from the mantles, then removing the spine, eyes, beak and ink sac.  This process is easier with big squid.  The squid I got was small.  This morning I was struggling to tidy up the heads.  After a short while, I gave up on the eyes.  What I wanted to do was skewer the heads then grill them over the burner, but that would have squid juice dripping all over my stove top.  So I settled for giving them a quick fry after marinating them in salt and turmeric powder.  That too generated a lot of juice, but I separated the meat from the juice then used the juice in my fried rice vermicelli.  I added the cooked heads last, thus was my lunch: fried rice vermicelli with squid heads.  It was a successful approach.  It had a strong flavor of squid.  I want that big squid in the video, but then I would need a bigger freezer.

Hi Natty!  How are you, Honey?  I hope you're feeling great and having a marvelous time over there.  Please keep safe and healthy OK!

It's rare that I find new music that I absolutely love.  Thundercat put out "Funny Thing" a couple of years ago, and I only found it last week.  I love it!  It's a fabulous song!  That bass line speaks to the heart, you can hear it talk.  What does it say?  "Oh boy oh boink!  Oh boy oh boink?  Oh boy oh boy oh BOINK! BOINK! BOINK! BOINK! BOINK! BOINK!"  The lyrics express the same deep emotional connotation.  But the problem with this song is that it's too short.  It's not enough!  Just like my finances.  So some other guy made a 10 hour version of this song.  How awesome!  Yeah my finances are not enough to be married, that's for sure.  Allah commands that we marry, right?  Allah allows that I marry a woman of MY choice, right?  Those who can't afford to marry must wait until Allah provides them with the means, right?  Does that mean I must have my wife and family to live in poverty like I live now?  Does Allah forbid that I have wealth enough to give my wife and family a good life?  Am I supposed to wait until the next life to be married?  Sure, families kill each other over materialism.  They also kill each other over lust and jealousy.  Remaining poor is no escape: Allah will test your wealth AND your humility.  Death is when the test ends, and if Allah loved you then perhaps your life on earth will be OK.

Of course I'm grateful for what Allah has given me.  Knowledge is a magnificent thing, and it was EARNED.  Look at the size of these giant curry pups compared to my fat fist, stuffed with beef, eggplant, onions and curry spices.  It was more than enough for dinner.  In fact, it was dinner for two.  You can have the smaller one, Natty.  And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
